Description: David Gillians of the Bayfield Historical Society will discuss their society’s work in the preservation of the many heritage buildings in the pretty, Lake Huron village. These efforts have included the creation of an Archives and Heritage Centre in an historic, clapboard building that, in 1893, housed a furniture/undertaker’s business as well as the commissioning of a book on the life and work of Admiral Bayfield, after whom the village is named.
David Gillians and his wife have lived in Bayfield for the past twenty years and during that time he has served as president of the Bayfield River Valley Trail Association, the Bayfield Historical Society and as a member of the Secondary Planning Committee for Bayfield.
This will be a Google Meets meeting which will begin at 7:00 pm. There will be a 45-minute presentation followed by 15 minutes for questions. There will also be information on how members can purchase David’s book, ‘For the Love of Bayfield’, following the presentation.
This is a FREE online event, hosted over Google Meet (Link will be provided in the registration confirmation email).
This event is hosted by the Thornhill Historical Society.
